Self Behavior and Self Control

by Ran Hamilton
Category : Self Improvement & Motivation
No one is immune today from a variety of stressful situations originating in their careers, relationships, financial lives and every thing else that crosses your path. To tell you that stressful events are normal in your life is not reassuring. Stress is a neutral concept. It is either positive or negative. Stress is not waiting on hold, being over drawn or waiting for anyone. These are just events. What makes them stressful is how you chose to react to them. Stress is your inside-out reaction to outside-in events, circumstances, people or conditions. You see stress is not about what is going on "out there", but what is going "in here", inside your own mind.

People fall prey negative emotions and make the wrong decisions or take adverse actions. Therefore emotions are one of the most important parts of human life; rather human emotions apply to all areas of human life. Some of the worst happenings human history has witnessed have been the result of overflow of emotions beyond control. It's always a reaction- Your emotions are always a result of the reaction to the environment, people or circumstances around you. People come up with negative or positive emotions in reaction to the happenings around them. You need to learn how not to react in negative to these circumstances or situations.

Maybe one of the most frightening things a person can experience in life is to be out of control. Some of us have a higher need to control than others. There are times when each one of us is a little controlling. We want to do an excellent job or complete a project on time and under budget. However, if you are not careful, a tendency to over-control things will stifle, neutralize and keep you from succeeding.

Learning to be “under control” means taking responsibility for your decisions before, during and after you makes them. I am not saying you don’t ever make mistakes; this isn’t about trying to be flawless. It's a sign of maturity when you're able to take responsibility for your own actions. To own up your mistakes without blaming your circumstances or other people; your emotional responses are up to you. You always have a choice. Maybe you believe you aren't important enough to put your goals and desires first. But you know what? We all came into this world, from the same Source, equally valuable with our own unique gifts to express in our own way.
