Time management tips

Managing Time is not all that hard when you look at it at a deeper level. Time can be managed easily by sorting out things that are important and giving them priority in order of importance. Time Management relates to the set principles of a person and system of decision making based on their conscious about their daily tasks that occupies their time. Having set goals is the most important thing in time management and without this it's like walking blindly in a dark room and trying to locate the door for help. For those people with busy lives being pulled in endless directions, the premise that a time management system will help them get the most out of their day is a familiar one.

Effective time management is really about your own behavior, and managing it better in order to make sure you are getting things done, rather than simply planning to do so. There is never enough time in a day to get everything done that needs to be. This is where it is important to have a time management technique that will work for your busy life. You need to be able to not only get everything done that needs to be but you also need to be able to get enough sleep. This is why it is so important to find that time management technique that will work for you.

Most of us too busy try to cope with whatever comes our way to invest a few minutes daily in establishing our work priorities. Take five minutes morning and evening to write down all those tasks which need to be done. Identify them by importance and urgency. Do not make the very common mistake of spending your time on less important and non-urgent tasks. Make sure that you understand your goals, role in the achievement and how contribute to the plans. Don't allow time to be wasted because you aren’t clear on what is important and what is not. This way is easier for you to identify priorities on a daily basis.

Create a To-Do List the Day Before. To-do lists are often listed as a time management tip. Effective office time management means that before you leave the office each day prepare a to-do list for the following day. This is very important to do if you want to ever get a handle on the time.

When you are grossly "overworked" it is tempting to cut out all breaks, including lunch, morning and afternoon tea. However, none of us can work effectively without a break and for the sake of both our sanity and effectiveness. we need to take reasonable breaks. Even a quick, brisk walk, stretches or a few minutes relaxation can often give your mind and body the break they need.

Are you sometimes guilty of starting a task, spending some time on it and then baulking at the complexity of the task or difficulty of the decision(s) to be made, you throw it in the "pending" tray or back to the in-tray? Many of us repeat this process over and over again, preferring to devote our energies to easier or more interesting tasks and waste considerable time in the process of doing so. It is far more time efficient to complete a "whole" task in one sitting whenever possible.

This may seem self evident, but the difference in focus often means the difference between success and failure in this key competency. But no matter how good the tips are, or how willing you are to implement them, you will never be successful till you accept the idea that it isn't time you are managing but rather yourself.
