Crimes against women have in fact, increased over the years in developed countries like the US and UK and across the world. The world is still as hostile a place, and the only thing that has changed is the weapons. Crime has become more sophisticated in nature but the sad part is that women are still considered as soft targets. If you think about it, we are faced with unsafe situations almost daily. This means that teach women's self defense is especially crucial. Threats to personal safety include rape, assault, abuse, and domestic violence. Personally I think women stand a better chance if they are better prepared. In this article, I will tell you about self defense for women. Avoiding risky and dangerous situation from day to day is not difficult. There are a few pointers that you have to know when you are out.

You should remember is that prevention is better than cure. Always be sure to try to prevent such situations from happening. Be aware of your surroundings. If you are waiting for a bus, stand near other people and never stand alone. Be aware of who is getting on and off the bus. If you think you are being followed, tell the bus driver or get into an occupied building as fast as you can.

If you are riding in a car, before getting in you need to check the backseat to make sure no one is hiding in it. If you are parked in a parking garage, ask the attendant to accompany or at least to monitor your safety on a video camera. Carry the keys in your hand with the ignition key at the ready.

If someone attacks you, try to stay as calm as possible. Do not panic. Make a decision whether to run or comply. If it is possible to run, do it. If there are a lot of people in your surrounding get move as far away from the attacker and try to get attention of the people surrounding you.

Weapons however is a tool employed to gain a tactical advantage over an adversary, usually by injury, defeat or destruction. Therefore, this means that almost anything that can be found such as rocks, knives, poles can be used as a self defense weapon. There are several self defense weapons that are available in the market. However, self defense weapons do not necessarily need to be very lethal.

You have to be mentally prepared when facing such situations. It is recommended that you go to a self defense class as they can better prepare you for such situations. It would also help give you confidence if you know you are well prepared for such situations.

It is important to understand that a violent act can happen at any time. Instead of becoming a victim, you can defend yourself against the attack.
