Brochure - Brochure as a Marketing tool

by Leo Aberia
Category : Marketing and Promotion
Brochures have many advantages over most other marketing tools available to you. Brochures are versatile marketing materials that you can use in any occasion. Brochures are a very effective way of communicating to a large audience in a cost-effective manner. An effective brochure can help you build the relationships that lead to new business. Not only is a brochure informative, it is also visually appealing and easy on the eye as it contains a number of pictures, either of the products of the company or the services provided by it. It also ensures that you will connect with more genuinely interested people. A good brochure is like a good visiting card – while the message is essentially the same, the way it is communicated says a lot about the company.

Brochures come in various kinds – one can go for a simple, no-frills brochure or one with a glossy finish, special paper and fancy patterns. Brochures can also be either folded once, twice or even thrice. A good brochure, it is said, can distinguish a company that has arrived from one that is still struggling. An effective brochure shows prospective clients why they should work with you or your organization instead of simply describing what the business does. If a brochure’s message is limited to a canned description of your business process or a laundry list of services, it will make you look like everyone else. Some brochures try to impress their readers. But if you want to convince prospective clients that you’re smart, tell them what they want to know in terms they can understand.

Use effective descriptions. Describe the Features, Attributes, and Benefits of each product or service. Don't just say what it is, but also say what it does, and why it is special. Don't describe your product in model numbers or technical terms. If you go into that much detail the reader will think they've picked up an instruction manual, not a brochure. Some marketing brochures try to tell readers everything. But brochures do not close sales; they position you to make the sale. A good brochure defines your business and tells potential clients what makes you unique.

Before you start on any kind of designing, you have to make sure you know who your customers are going to be. Most of the details listed above are going to be directly connected to the audience, so if you do not know them, there is no reason to print anything. The goal of any brochure is to convey your key message quickly and concisely. It is important to avoid getting complicated. Your readers want to see a simple, straightforward brochure that tells them what they need to know. Prospects want to know what’s in it for them. They want to know how your products or services will help them. Make sure your brochure does that.

As a final point, using a brochure will ultimately depend on the specific product or service and the customers you may be trying to reach. Your brochure will give you an opportunity to present these products and services in an ideal way with the isolated format.
