This may sound overly dramatic, but it's a proven fact that losing a relationship makes a similar type of sadness as losing a loved one who dies. The pain is completely overwhelming. The grief experienced during a break up can be one of the most unendurable feelings imaginable. You can't explain how your relationship when bad, but you are definitely hurting when it happens. What make fixing a relationship so hard are the emotional issues that tend to take free reign when things go wrong. Fixing a relationship is really no different than fixing anything else that's broken.
Before you tried to fixing your relationship, you must first understand that you cannot change anyone, no one is responsible for your happiness except you and you are born to create, so you can manifest anything if you really have the desire for it. It's important that you know what to do and say to get back with the one you love and avoid the common mistakes almost everyone makes.
Accepting that this is happening is the first step towards healing. Saving a relationship means accepting that there are certain things you can change and certain things you can't. But the good news is you have more power than you may think.
Back off for a moment and give each other some breathing space. Sometimes it's a simple case of needing some room to breathe. Give your partner some freedom. Suggest that they do something with their old friends. Be sure to stay occupied during this time of no contact by engaging in lots of activities that you enjoy and are important to you. Start working on those personal goals you've been putting off and do things that make you happy.
Find out where the problem lies. More oftentimes, the number one area where a relationship begins to breakdown is the area of commitment. Everyday pressures can weaken a couples' sense of commitment towards their relationship. Herein lay one of the destructive effects of emotions run wild. Try talking to your ex. Communication is important in relationships. This road must go in both directions at all times even in the worst of situations.
One way of building a strong relationship is to always express your love. You should not assume that your partner already knows what you are thinking just because you've been together for so long. Make it a habit of your relationship to praise each other. When you consistently praise your partner, it is much easier for your partner to do the same.
