Since cancer is usually named for the organ where it originated, cancer that spreads to bones it not known as bone cancer. It is rare for cancer to begin forming inside the bone. It is more likely for cancer to spread to the bone from another part of the body. Cancer from another area of the body sometimes metastasizes, or spreads, to a bone. Though bone cancer is not as common as most other types of cancer, it is quite dangerous like most cancers.
The different kinds of bone cancer occur in different kinds of bone tissue. The most common kind is osteosarcoma. This kind of cancer begins to form in the ends of bones. Another common kind of bone cancer is Ewing’s sarcoma. Ewing’s sarcoma occurs in the middle part of larger bones.
The exact causes of bone cancer still seem to be a matter of research and study. Symptoms of bone cancer are incidence of swelling or tenderness or pain in the area affected by bone cancer, in some cases, a lump or hard mass on the surface of a bone, weakening or fractures of the affected bone, and Appetite or weight loss.

Remember that early diagnosis of any type of cancer can help in getting a cure. Surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy are the treatments that are used for bone cancer. The doctor will use one or a combination of these treatments depending on the needs of the patient.
