B-Complex vitamins are a mixture of eight essential B-vitamins that our bodies require on a daily basis. It was previously thought that Vitamin B was a single nutrient, but later studies proved that it was actually eight different nutrients that made up this "single" vitamin, there are Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine and Pyridoxamine), Vitamin B7 (Biotin), Vitamin B9 (Folic acid), and Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin). Since the B complex vitamin is water soluble they must be taken daily. The reason for this is because water soluble vitamins are difficult to restore in the body. Excess of B-vitamins are excreted in the urine.
The age of an individual will determine how much vitamin B complex they will take. There are several good benefits you can receive by taking vitamin B complex. - Vitamin B1 is needed to help convert the carbohydrates we eat into glucose. The Vitamin B Complex is essential for the healthy functioning of the nervous system. - Vitamin B5 is needed for the correct functioning of the adrenal glands and the production of some hormones and nerve regulating substances. - Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct digestion, production of HCl (Hydrochloric acid) and to assist in the breakdown of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. - Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct RNA and DNA synthesis and cell reproduction. - The B Vitamins work so closely with one other that a deficiency in any one B vitamin can lead to poor functioning of any or all of the others even if they are in good supply.
Actually, adequate amounts of the vitamin B complex group are needed on a daily basis to insure the proper function of many systems of the human body. Vitamin B comes from a number of natural sources, including potatoes, bananas, lentils, chili peppers, liver oil, liver, turkey, and tuna. Nutritional yeast (or brewer's yeast) and molasses are especially good sources of Vitamin B.
