Vitamin A benefit and deficiency symptoms

Vitamin A has many benefits. Vitamin A is considered a very important anti oxidant vitamin. Vitamin A covers a pre-formed, retinol, and a pro-vitamin, beta-carotene, some of which is converted to retinol in the intestinal mucosa. Use of Vitamin A in the form of Beta-carotene kills free radicals and keeps us young for a long time. You can maintain good eyesight while strengthening your immune system, helping your cell growth and in order for the body to repair damaged tissues it is essential to have Vitamin A.

The most well known symptom of a vitamin A deficiency is improper or impaired vision. The eyes can become dry and the vision will not be clear or will be blurry, night blindness, xerophthalmia, retarded growth, and susceptible to infection. This kind of deficiency can also lead to many different types of skin diseases such as psoriasis, acne, dry skin and itchy skin.

Vitamin A is widely distributed in animal and plant foods in animal foods is preformed vitamin A (retinol), and in plant foods are pro-vitamins (carotenes) such as liver, eggs, butter, cheese, whole milk, fish and meat. The recommended daily intake (RDI) for vitamin A ranges from 1500 - 2500 IU, depending on your gender and life stages. Excessive vitamin A might be harmful or toxic to your body, however its precursor. A large dosage of beta carotene increases the risk of cancer in those who drink alcohol and smoke heavily.
