Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Review

by Hardy Chen | Gadget and Gizmos > Switch Category
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a new smart phone launched by the electronics giant. The hardware is pretty good, packing with the new panels interface, 800x400 touch screen, and QWERTY keyboard. Although this smart phone is not the slimmest and the lightest of its class but it’s pretty solid in your hand.

Other features of this smart phone are the Wayfinder Navigator, Push Email, 3G ready, Built in 3.2MP digital camera, Wi-fi, and Handwriting Recognition.

The X1 has a “curved slide” that angles the screen up, banana-style, when you slide out the keyboard. The hinge feels very sturdy without being difficult to use. The keyboard itself is pretty good. The keys are well spaced, reducing the possibilities to have typos I your text.

It also have optical joystick in the middle of the four way directional pad that lets you flick your thumb over its surface to scroll up and down, or side to side.

The 800x400 VGA screen is very beautiful. Video and images is bright, clear, and sharp. It uses resistive touch technology. Resistive touch technology works by sensing direct pressure. Unlike capacitive technology, resistive technology can work with a stylus for precise control or handwriting recognition; it also works with gloved hands.

Battery life is great enough. You can make calls, watch video, play games, browse the internet at a moderate level for two or three days without charging it.

The camera is also good. It can takes crystal clear photos, and you can use touch screen taps to auto focus on a specific object. Of course you still can’t rely on this phone for your photography hobby purposes.

Signal strength and call quality is also good. If you’re not used to the panel interface, then it might give you some nuisance when you want to quickly check any missed calls or text message you may have.

Overall, this smart phone is pretty good, but the only exception is its price tag. You can get this Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 around $700-$800. It’s pretty expensive, because you can get another smart phone on the same level without wasting money that much.
