The Types of Digital Camera

Do you want to buy a new digital camera, and you are a little bit confused to choose which the best suit for your needs ?
Choosing the right camera sometimes can be a difficult task. There are a lot of types and function to choose from, and making wrong choice can be somehow very frustrating.

Generally, digital cameras are categorized into 3 types.
1. Digital Point and Shoot Camera
Digital Point and Shoot Camera is the common camera types available at the market. This camera are designed to be very handy and can be easily placed into your shirt pocket.
Basically, digital point and shoot cameras are very easy-to-use and to use it we don't require any formal training in photography.
Every Digital Point and Shoot Camera have megapixel rating in the form "MP". The higher MP, the higher resolution which means you can print larger photos without sacrificing the quality of your photos.
If you plan to buy this kind of camera, you should pay attention to its zoom ability. For your information, optical zoom is always better than digital zoom. So if you want to buy a digital point and shoot camera you must consider its optical zooming ability. Generally, a digital point and shoot camera usually have both optical and digital zoom function.
Another consideration before buying a digital point and shoot camera is its power source. Most of digital point and shoot camera today are powered by proprietary rechargeable batteries that require a special AC charger. If you do a lot of traveling activity, and it's hard for you to find an AC outlet, maybe you can consider to buy a digital camera which use AA batteries as its power source.

Another interesting technology found on many point and shoot camera is Face Detection. With this technology, the camera will find individual or multiple faces in the frame and sets the most suitable focus point, when shutter button is pressed halfway.

2. Digital Bridge Camera
According to the wikipedia, bridge digital cameras are a type of high end digital camera. The term "bridge" characterizes the way in which these cameras fill the niche between DSLR and digital point and shoot camera (compact camera). Usually its size is bigger than digital point and shoot camera.
This kind of camera also equipped with larger lens like those found on DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras. And the typical bridge camera has a telephoto zoom limit of over 400mm (35mm equivalent). And for this reason, bridge camera typically can be categorized into superzoom cameras.
Most bridge camera has secondary lenses to improve wide angle, telephoto or macro capabilities.

For viewing purposes, usually a digital bridge cameras employ two types of electronic screen : LCD and electronic viewfinder

3.DSLR Cameras
A few days ago I wrote article about DSLR Camera Introduction. This kind of camera widely used by professional photographers and journalist.
DSLR Cameras feature the most advanced focusing and metering system and are the most versatile of the three types of digital cameras. With this camera you can take landscape shot using wide angle lens, or use it to take wild shot with a telephoto lens. Not only that, this type of camera also often used for macrophotography. For macrophotography purposes, you can use macro lenses.
The pros of using DSLR Camera is wide range of lens we can choose, and this is the reason why this kind of camera is very popular among professional photographers and journalist.
