Most people talk a lot about calories but in fact they don't have a clue what they are. The main key to lose fat is to make sure that your body burns more calories then it consumes. If you are fat then it is clear that your body burns less calories than your body is consuming. However, Many people are not aware that what a calorie is. A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. A food calorie is the amount of heat required to raise 1 kilogram of water 1 degree centigrade. The more calories that the food contains the more energy it will be released when it is burned. The important part is that your body requires certain energy level according to your day to day activities. If your food has more calories than you need then that extra calories go into your safe that is called fat.
The best low calorie foods are found in the produce and freezer sections of your local supermarket. Raw, fresh vegetables and fruits are rich in carbohydrates, protein, high in fiber, and low in fats. Most are low in calories. These foods are full of healthy nutrients which will be heart protective and strengthen your immune system. Focus on more vegetables in your diet especially the leafy green vegetables. Eat a variety of vegetables, with a variety of colors each day. This creates visual appeal, different textures and the good nutrition that you need.
Some specific Low calorie foods are Red Peppers, Swede, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Celery, Broccoli, Boiled potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Water cress, Apricot, Melon, Chayote, Currants, Low fat Cheese, Egg's whites, Beef, Canadian bacon, Ground turkey, Lower fat hot dogs.
Is very low calorie diets really work? What people don't realize is that doing this puts your body into what is called starvation mode where your metabolism slows enormously. As soon as you start with starving yourself your body goes into a protection state. In fact if you lose too much fat each week (2 kilos ore more) you can end up losing muscle mass. As you may know that you need muscles to burn fat. Just because you want to lose weight, don’t dump your nutritious foods and live on celery sticks and diet sodas. It will hurt you in the long run by depriving you of needed nutrition and fiber.
